Introduction
Dear Krishna ("we", "us", "our") is built as a calm spiritual companion. This Privacy Policy explains what information is processed when you use the Dear Krishna iOS app and how that information is used.
1. Data We Process
Depending on how you use the app, we may process:
- Chat messages: Text you type in the Chat tab is sent to Google Gemini (a third-party AI service provided by Google) to generate responses.
- Voice audio: When you use the Voice tab, your microphone audio is sent to Sarvam AI (a third-party speech service) for speech-to-text transcription. The resulting transcript is then sent to Google Gemini to generate a response.
- AI response audio: AI-generated response text is sent to Sarvam AI for text-to-speech conversion so Krishna's response can be spoken aloud.
- Subscription data: Subscription and entitlement status is processed through Apple billing and RevenueCat (a third-party subscription management service).
- Support messages: Messages you send if you contact us by email.
We do not collect your name, email, location, or any personal identifiers through the app. We do not operate ad tracking and we do not sell personal information.
2. How We Use Data
- Provide app features such as chat, voice reflections, and daily scripture experiences.
- Apply free-tier limits and unlock paid access where eligible.
- Maintain service quality, security, and abuse prevention.
- Respond to support and legal requests.
3. Local Storage on Your Device
Dear Krishna stores selected data locally on your device, including chat history, voice conversation history, and usage counters used for feature limits. If you delete the app or clear local app data, local records may be removed.
4. Third-Party Services
We use third-party providers only where needed for app functionality. Below we identify each provider, the data we share with them, and link to their privacy policies:
- Google (Gemini API): Receives your chat messages and voice transcripts to generate AI responses. Google processes this data under their Gemini API Terms of Service. No personal identifiers are included in requests.
- Sarvam AI: Receives your voice audio recordings for speech-to-text transcription, and receives AI-generated response text for text-to-speech audio conversion. No personal identifiers are included in requests.
- Cloudflare: All API requests to Google and Sarvam AI are routed through Cloudflare Workers, which acts as a secure intermediary. Cloudflare processes request data transiently to deliver it to the destination service.
- RevenueCat: Receives anonymous subscription receipt data from Apple to validate your entitlement status. No personal identifiers are shared.
- Apple: Handles App Store billing and in-app purchase infrastructure.
Each third-party provider listed above is contractually or by policy required to protect the data they receive and to use it only for the purposes described. We do not authorize any third party to use your data for advertising, profiling, or purposes unrelated to providing Dear Krishna's features.
5. Purchases, Apple Billing, and RevenueCat
Subscription payments are processed by Apple through your App Store account. RevenueCat helps us verify receipts and determine active entitlements. RevenueCat does not directly bill your payment card.
6. Tracking and Advertising
Dear Krishna does not use third-party advertising SDKs and does not track your activity across other companies' apps or websites for targeted advertising.
7. Permissions
- Microphone access is required for voice conversations.
- Speech recognition access is required for voice transcription.
You can change permissions anytime in iOS Settings.
8. Data Retention and Deletion
We keep only the information necessary to operate the app experience and subscriptions. Data retained by third-party processors follows their own retention policies and legal obligations.
9. Children's Privacy
Dear Krishna is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child provided personal information, contact us and we will review and remove data where required by law.
10. International Processing
Our service providers may process data in countries outside your own. We select providers that maintain contractual and technical safeguards suitable for this processing.
11. Policy Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version is always shown here with an updated effective date.
